What’s Happening in June at Athena?

June is a busy and exciting month for The Athena Network Singapore with the first online business training session in the Google APAC partner-led initiative, two Athena Executive Club meetings with value-packed business development and networking skills topics as well as a fantastic line-up for June’s Cappuccino Connections meeting. Athena Executive Meetings Wednesday 13th June and Tuesday 19th June

Networking Skills Training

In each Athena Executive Club meeting attendees benefit from expert tips and ideas on how to maximise their networking activities. In June, Gina Romero will be presenting on ‘Introducing yourself with Impact’ including:

  • Setting the direction of sales
  • How do you explain to others what you do in your business?
  • Would you like to do so with more impact?
  • Be the personality behind your business so you are not lost in a pile of business cards
  • Learn how you can remain memorable long after the networking event is over

Business Development Training

Business development topics are an integral part of each Athena Executive Club meeting.  These short sessions are designed to share useful tips, facts and ideas covering a wide range of issues relevant to executives and entrepreneurs.

Google APAC Women Entrepreneurs on the Web Program Launch – 15th June 2012

The Athena Network is thrilled to be partnering with Women@Google’s APAC team to deliver the Women Entrepreneurs on the Web (WeOW) – a 5-month business and online training program for female-led businesses in Singapore.

We were overwhelmed with the sign ups to be a part of this exciting program and currently have over 50 subscribed businesses including many Athena members. The program combines three main elements between Google, who will be providing in-depth training on the Google suite of online business tools, The Athena Network Singapore, who will be delivering business development training sessions and the Singapore Management University, where a group of students will be working with participating businesses in a co-mentoring partnership.

The first session, to be held at the Google office on 15th June, will introduce the registered participants to building an online presence using the latest tools and techniques.

Digital Me: Women Online in Asia – Thursday 21st June 2012

Hosted by Women Media Network (WMN) Singapore, this breakfast session looks at how women in Asia are using connected resources in their daily personal and professional lives, the challenges and contrasts across the region, the impact of the digital divide, and what the most popular online activities are.

There will be a presentation followed by a panel discussion covering the best online practices, recommended ways to make performance-enhancing connections, the latest ways to create a professional, credible and appropriate virtual persona, as well as the most effective ways to use the full range of social networks and resources.

The Athena Network’s Managing Director, Gina Romero, will join the discussion panel which consists of digital thought-leaders within the APAC region.

Athena Cappuccino Connections – Friday 29th June 2012

Kapap

For June’s Cappuccino Connections meeting, we are delighted to welcome Qin Yunquan, Chief Self Defence Instructor at Kapap Asia, who will be providing practical tips for businesswomen in defending and protecting themselves, particularly when travelling to countries which do not offer the safety and security of Singapore.

Specialising in ladies/children self defence, Yunquan teaches the use of specially selected bio‐mechanics and principles of engagement that are critical for a smaller person to defend against a much larger opponent.

Yunquan is a Kapap level 1 instructor certified by the co-founder of Modern Kapap, Major Avi Nardia as well as being certified as an Executive Bodyguard by the two founders, Colonel Chaim and Major Avi Nardia.
